2024 Workshops

JC Ament Instructor. $60 per person for the "hands on" workshop of 12 people. When possible, free auditing of the workshop can be done from the back of the room so long as it does not interfere with the "hands on" learners.

Azizah Asgalari Instructor. Join Azizah at the DC Pen Show for a fun and adventurous class using the delightfully versatile Kakimori metal nib. This workshop will supply nib, nib holder, and some inks with which to experiment. Please bring the paper/notebook of your choosing!

Connie Chen Instructor. This course is designed to unchain you from copybook tracing, and the endless hours spent forcing your writing to look like someone else's. While this course is focused on cursive letterforms, it is the principles of script that Connie provides in detailed instruction on the composition of each letter. Nikola Pang Instructor. Join Nikola Pang in learning the beautiful, classical, forms of Italic script! Cancelleresca, or Chancery hand, came about from a marriage of humanist and Roman forms and really hit its stride during the period we know as the Italian Renaissance.

Nikola Pang Instructor. Come learn the beautiful calligraphic style of copperplate script! Copperplate calligraphy, also known as roundhand, engrosser's, and engraver's script, is considered by most to be the mother of all pointed pen hands. It still stands as one of the most recognizable and highly demanded design elements in pointed pen calligraphic works. In this course we will go over a concise version of its history and learn to use dip pens in order to form the basic strokes of its construction.

Suzette Perez Instructor. This workshop is open to beginners and experienced collagers/journalers both, It is for those who want to learn about Collage journaling and tunnel pages.
